The result was a rather small starting grid of 54 drivers (2wd and 4wd combined) who participated in the 3rd round of the German Championships, starting at Saturday, 8:30am.

On the first race day, we were greeted with dry track conditions and no rain in sight (yet). MCC Laupheim’s track proved quite challenging during last year’s racing season: A fast paced yet technical track that is unforgiving towards driving errors thus always asking for spare parts…
Nonetheless, the track is great fun to drive, with lots of gimmicks like jumps, chicanes and many different kinds of corners.

The first few practice runs showed the favorites tightly packed with some local heros. In the end, it was Atze Tiryaki, Rainer Jooß, Marc Kreisig, Dirk Kellermann and Silvio Richter who set the pace in the 4wd class. Speaking of Dirk Kellermann: Last year, he managed to totally crash his car at the “looong jump”, and this year, he too almost managed to completely break his car. Ever though of christening that jump the “Dirk Kellermann Jump”, MCC Laupheim? ;-)

To get as many training sessions as possible on Saturday, dinner break was cancelled. After three practice runs, the drivers’ briefing commenced. We had to make good use of the (still) friendly weather! The plan was to conduct all the qualification runs and the final heats right up to the semi finals on Saturday, because Sunday, it was going to be rain, rain, rain.

Dirk Kellermann and Marc Kreisig (both MCD) did best in the qualification runs. They were followed by Reiner Jooß und Atze Tiryaki. Marc and Dirk were the only drivers who managed 11 laps during the qualification heats.

Team MCD’s aim has been met and hence, we could enjoy some tasty Spaghetti Bolognese (thanks to Rodewald-company) during the Champions League Final. Because of the new, “weather-adapted” time schedule, the semi finals started on Sunday morning which meant a night shift to prep the cars.

The alarm clock went off on Sunday morning at 7 o’clock. Off to the track, we went, just quickly stopping at a petrol station for some rolls. Because you wouldn’t believe it, but there are really Team-members (former members) who book a hotel WITHOUT breakfast. Unbelievable, isn’t it?

The weather still looked nice, with only minor rainfalls through the night. The track was in a quite good condition. Luckily for the 4wd class, the 2wd guys started first and cleaned up the track. When the 4wd drivers went to the starting grid, the track was completely dry again.
The 4wd class started with semi final A with Marc and Manfred Lutz. Also on board: the two FG team drivers Flavio Budulig and Rainer Jooß. From start to finish, Marc had an easy game and won the race.Rainer Jooß could keep up through the first few laps but had to let go afterwards. He was passed by Manfred Lutz who found his racing line and did better lap by lap.

Marc and Manfred managed 23 laps and placed 1st and 2nd before Rainer Jooß and Flavio Budulig.

The second semi final followed en suite, starring the other MCD factory team drivers Dirk Kellermann and Matthias Wörner and MCD youngster Sven Rodewald, who shows a stronger performance with each and every race. We’re really glad the have such a gifted driver on board and we expect a high flying race career for him!

This semi final could also be called the semi final of the failed favorites. Both Matthias Wörner and Atze Tiryaki had to retire due to technical defects. Dirk, rather untouched, consistently took lap after lap and won the semi final B. Behind him, the youngstery Thomas Lutz and Sven Rodewald set off an exciting battle through the race. Thomas Lutz finally came out on top thus securing him the second place in the semi final B, only four seconds in front of Sven. Congrats to both of you!

Because Marc had been a tad faster than Dirk, he had the pole position in the final heat. Manfred Lutz started on position 3. Here’s the starting grid for the final:

So how did the final heat go? Marc could defend his pole position at first, but after a mistake in lap 2, Rainer and Manfred passed by. Dirk hat a bad start and quickly found himself at the end of the pack. The track started to get more and more slippery, because right at the end of the 2wd final, it started to rain… again. The lap times plummeted and the drivers had to be extra careful not to loose traction. Dirk, who wrestled himself through the pack and was in position #3 as he crashed into Marc, and Manfred could pass by again. After about 7 minutes into the race, the positions were as following: #1 Rainer, #2 Manfred then Marc and Dirk. Another lap spelt technical troubles for Marc: the drive pin of a rear CVD shaft broke. He tried to race on, 2wd style, but had to retire his car after 19 minutes. Dirk started to catch up with Manfred and Rainer, eventually overtook them and won the race. Rainer managed second place and Manfred Lutz came in 3rd.

Congratulations to the finalists! It has been great fun as always, and we’re looking forward to Steinlach. This time, we try booking sunshine!

Your Robitronic Racing Team

French Championship - 3. Round

3rd round of the French Championships

As stated in my last report, we want to support our MCD drivers at this year’s French Championship as good as possible. Because right now, the French market is, besides the German market, the biggest one for the OR6 class. Hence, Sinan and Semi Sunali as well as Marc Kreisig came to the show: the French Championship’s 3rd round in Chanu

(Sinan Sunali, Semi Sunali and Marc Kreisig for your support)

Special thanks go out to Sinan Sunali who provided the MCD Factory Team with this fabulous van. It came from Turkey all the way to Germany in just two days! Bulgaria - Romania - Hungary - Vienna and onwards to make it just in time for the French Championships. That’s 2700km in 48h folks!

After the final 700km approach to Chanu in France, there were only two things on our to-do list left: EAT and SLEEP!

The alarm clock set off at 6:45 on Saturday morning. Training was scheduled for 8 o’clock with 53 drivers at the site. As with the last round, the 4WD class was quite more popular than the 2WD class.

The track promised loads of fun, with many gimmicks and a speedy line around. There were different track surfaces, simple jumps and doubles, bumps, chicanes, banked corners and hairpins. A great track layout, confirmed during the first training laps.

Racing around the track was just pure fun, a competitive setup was quickly found and the lap times looked promising. We had some spare time to further improve on the setup and try some different settings.

The qualification heats started out in the afternoon. Weather conditions were dry at first albeit cool and windy. But the last of the 4wd groups with Marc was met with rainfall. Bad luck! But on the whole, Team MCD did very well. Cyril Pahud was the fastest man on the track and the other team driers could also secure good positions.

The 2nd qualification run provided every driver with the same, dry conditions, hence the drivers of the last 4wd group could improve on their positions. The third and final qualifier was held in the evening. Of course, everybody wanted to give their best positions during the finals - and bad luck stroke again with the last 4wd group. Unbelievable, that French weather! Maybe we should consider a new mode for the qualification runs?

But we won’t complain as nearly every MCD driver placed for the semi-finals and had great chances to make it to the finals.

First things first, however. This time, your obligatory Saturday-evening maintenance procedure.

Community spirit is as important as the support directly at the track. And how else could one indulge more that with a great supper and great French wine, shared with fellow racers? We headed to an American dinner near our hotel and really had a blast till late at night.

(Has it really been that late? Have we really been the last ones…?!)

Every late night is followed by an early morning, no exceptions allowed! We had to get up really EARLY to prepare for the semi finals.

The semi finals went well for Team MCD. Four drivers went straight to the finals, so MCD had the most cars in the finals, compared to our competitors.

Bouvier Mickael won the semi final A after leading Gandino Judicael had to pit stop for a broken spark plug. In semi final B, Marc Kreisig was victorious and secured position #3 for the final. The starting grid was set up as following:

1. Bouviert Mickael
2. Laqueille Eric
3. Marc Kreisig
4. Roudaut Matthieu
5. Gandino Judicael
6. Baudon Vivien
7. Bourderon Sebastien
8. Romano Remy
9. Peuziat Michael
10. Laigle Thomas

MCD drivers Eric L. and Marc K. had a great start. They take the lead into the first two laps. After another lap, Marc K. was leading the race, outdistancing Judicael G. who was in second position.

But after 10mins into the race, Marc K. had a broken clutch spring and his engine went out after braking at the end of the straight. The engine was restarted, and Marc had to adjust his driving style to his handicap. His mission now was to secure the second place through the remaining 20mins. Not quite an easy task to do, when the clutch does not disengage any more. Marc had to fight slow acceleration and pronounced under steering into corners. Judicael could expand the distance to Marc and finally secure his first victory for this season. Marc could secure his 2nd place and crossed the finish line 22 sec. behind Judicael, with Matthieu Roudaut completing the roster. The three drivers were all in the same lap after the 30 minutes - an impressive evidence for the competitiveness of the French Championships.

(Congratulations to all the finalists!)

Again it has been a marvelous weekend with lots of fun. It has been pleasant for us to see MCD on the rise. With 4 cars in the finals and a second place, we’re right on track!

Your Robitronic Racing Team

OR5 4WD 1. Eight MCD cars in the finals, tq’ed and an MCD-only rostrum!

Butt he real highlight for MCD was the impressive performance of youngster Dennis Krause, 1st, and Sven Redewald, 5th. Could we already send our old stagers into retirement?

But first things first: After a long winter’s break, Team MCD arrived in anticipation of a challenging race. Not even the bad weather forecast could down the mood.

This year’s German Championship’s first race would be held at Grossheubach on a carpet track. A welcome circumstance, considering the anticipated rainfall. Because nobody is fond of a full blown mud-battle, the least the material itself.

We set up our pit area and fined tuned our cars to be prepared for the first racing day.

A hefty rainfall at night litteraly turned the track into a lake on Saturday morning. The water had to be drained, and we of Team MCD/Robitronic want to thank the club and team Mogatech for their commitment. They really did their best to keep the track in a drivable condition. Many, many thanks to you!!

Considering the bad weather, many drivers upgraded their electronics’ protection, because these delicate parts usually suffer the most under wet conditions - as even drivers of Team MCD came to realize: Newcomer Matthias Werner lost three servos during the first two heats. Marc Kreisig was the second unlucky fellow, with one servo dying each first and second qualification heat.

The third, most decisive qualifier was pushed back to Sunday. A good decision, considering the ongoing rainfall. Sunday morning brought dry weather conditions for the reminder of the race.

The 4wd class was dominated by local hero Dennis Krause’s rock-solid and steady performance. Dirk Kellermann was next, followed by Andreas Ivo and Marc Kreisig as 4th. Derin Özgür went on a nightshift on Saturday evening, and it paid off: His car handled much better in the third qualification run, than in the first and second ones. Matthias, plagued by servo problems went to the quarter finals, which he sure-handedly won.

Before we go on to the finals, there was a driver’s meeting to catch up with the latest infos.

Like in the qualification runs, Dennis dominated the semi finals and went for pole position - a stunning performance from a 13-year old of club Grossheubach. Behind him came the whole Team MCD with Dirk, Derin, Marc and Matthias. Because of their strong performances, youngster Sven Rodewald, Dervis Yaman, Flavio Bodulig and Norbert Forster also qualified

Dennis didn’t let him get under pressure at any time, controlling the pace from start to finish. TQ - pole position - victory. Congratulations to you, Dennis!

Derin and Dirk fought over the second place, perhaps losing to much time to Dennis to catch up with him. Derin could finally secure the second place - did he secretly work on his car at night? ;-) Dirk came in third, with Matthias and Sven Rodewald behind. Unfortunately, Marc couldn’t battle with the fast guys this time. He rather fought some electronics problems and had to retire near the end of the race. A streak of bad luck also hit with Flavio and Dervis, who too had to retire from the race.

(Congratulations to the winners!)

In this spirit, see you next time, hopefully with sunny weather conditions!

Your Robitronic Racing Team.

H-K1 WC Edition Instruction

KM H-K1 WC "Meen" Edition

NOW available the new instruction for the limited Edition of the H-K1.

The first batch get already shipped today from KM and we will start deliver them by beginning of next week.

(H-K1 WC "Meen" Version Instruction Manual 2013 v1.0)

(H-K1 Meen Version Supplementary Setting v1.0)

French Championship - 2 Run

Kreisig and MCD: Victory in France!

MCD takes home the victory in the France Championship and leaves the competition behind.

France saw a boom in the 4wd large scale offroad class during the recent years, with more and more drivers showing up at the races. MCD foresaw this trend and decided to support their French drivers even better. Last year, MCD could secure the championship title with the Chacal-RC team. This year, Cyril Pahud’s team (Chacal RC) get even more support from Marc Kreisig and Sinan Sunali who are on site.

Last weekend, the championship’s second and final race was held in Les Marmousets near Paris. A beautiful site the leaves nothing to be desired: There is an onroad and an offroad racetrack, complete with a roofed driver’s stand.

The 4wd class saw a whopping 45 drivers at the starting grid, evenly distributed between brands: There were about 16 MCDs, 15 Losis and 14 FG cars. The track got a new layout two weeks ago, so no driver had an advantage.

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t do well on Saturday. There was heavy rainfall the night before, making the track all muddy, and the sun didn want to come through the clouds. Nobody decided to start with practice runs, so the race officially started with the qualifiers in the afternoon.

The qualification runs didn’t actually work out for Team MCD. Either there were some minor technical annoyances, or communication problems or simply drivers’ mistakes. The best MCD driver could hardly place on 5th position, which was far off from what was hoped for.

But Sunday fortunately saw a change of things. First for the weather which cleared up, and secondly for Team MCD’s performance on the track.

Some drivers of Team MCD, who were hit hard by yesterday’s qualification runs had to fight hard in quarter finals to make their way to higher ranking finals. There’s always some luck involved in trying for that, so some succeeded more than others. But in the end, Team MCD made it to the semi finals and hopes were high that at least some drivers would make it into the finals.

The fastest guy during the semi finals was Marc Kreisig with his MCD RRv4 Factory. He went for pole position and straight into the final heat. Matthieu Roudaut came in second, and Vivien Baudon made it up to the third position.

Attracted by the beautiful weather and the roaring engines, even some spectators made it to the track, just in time for the finals!

The final heat lasted for 30 minutes, and the leading drivers could quickly get away from the rest of the pack. Matthieu could keep up with Marc in the beginning, but after a slight mistake at the 5 minutes mark, he had to let go. MCD could secure a resounding victory from the starting grid to the finish line. The Race Runner V4 has again been established as the reference, the competition has to measure up to.

(Congratulations to the winners!)

Congratulations to the winner of the 2WD class, who chose MCD and MCD Micro Stud 155mm tyres for the best possible grip.
